This SEO Tutorial, (SEO 101), will show you that if you submit to search engines without following my simple seo optimization guidelines, your website may not show up in Google, Yahoo, or MSN for a long, long time.
1) Choose a Domain name with Key phrases in it. For example, www.cheapwebdesigninelgin.com contains the keyword phrases ‘Cheap Web Design‘, ‘Web Design‘, and ‘Web Design in Elgin‘. However, be careful not to make it too long if you plan on using Google AdWords because the Display URL is limited to 35 characters. This website, www.dourosfamilyandcosmeticdentistry.com , would not qualify for an AdWords Campaign because it is too long. Note: If you already have a Domain name, and it does not have Keywords in it, you can still succeed.
2) Key Phrases should be put in your 'title'.
I would suggest adding 2-3 Key phrases. For example, note the Title of this web page, <title> SEO Tutorial, Free SEO Tutorial, Google Seo Tutorial </title>. If you put the name of your website in the Title, and it is not a key phrase, you are doomed. And make sure these Key Phrases are included in your web page Content !
3) Sprinkle Keywords and Key phrases in your Content. Put in as many as you can without making the Content look spammy. These keywords should be Bolded, Underlined, or Italicized. NOTE: The lead sentence in your Website Content should contain your main key phrase, and it should be Bolded ! Use these Free Keyword Research Tools: Google AdWords: Keyword Tool and SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool.
4) Add some H1, and H2 Text to your web page. These should be keyphrases, the ones on this page include, SEO Tutorial, Google SEO Tutorial, and Seo Optimization Tutorial. If you don't know what H1 Text is, do a Google Search for some learning.
5) Make sure your page file name reflect the content. For example if a page is about 'mortgage services', name the file mortgage-services.html.
6) Use the alt attribute to provide descriptive text for all images on your webpage.

7) Avoid excessive use of non SEO Friendly web page attributes. These would include Flash presentations and flashy Java Script addons. Although they may look cool, the Search Engines cannot recognize it content or looks, and judge it as such.
8) Submit an XML Sitemap to help Google find your website. XML-Sitemaps.com is a good free website to create your site map. Futhermore, get a free Google Gmail, and submit the sitemap in the webmaster tools section of your Google account.
9) Build 'Backlinks'. When the Google algorithm (The Googlebot) spiders around the Internet, it will add your website to their directory when it finds your website at various place throughout the Internet. There are free and easy ways to do this, you need to get busy and do this. The more places Google finds your website, the more importance it will give it in regards to placing it for your key search phrases. Click here to reference my free link building list.
10) Submit your website manually
to other Search Engines such as Yahoo, and MSN although link building is really the key to having them find your website.
I guarantee that if you follow these 10 easy steps in my SEO Tutorial, your website will be found in Google's directory within 2-4 weeks. As for the other Search Engines such as MSN and Yahoo, they will also follow suit although they are a little less predictable because they each have their own personality.
